Mission Possible Week 1

Calgary and Banff

Group Devotions in Bannff
At the start of our trip we were well aware that God was already preparing and planning great things for the team, we just had some toils getting there to do the work. With unexpected visa application for a person, plane delay, missing our connecting flight, randomly selected passport interview, computer selected customs control, and more flight delays, we thought we were never going to make it. We have never been so thankful for a flight delay, than our last flight so that we could make it on board to complete the last leg of our trip. Then upon arriving in Cochrane only to find a sewer back up and over flow of sewage in the bathtub and floor in the girl's apartment and everything having to be resorted at 4:30am. Praise the Lord for His strength and mercy in helping us get through and getting rooted here in Cochrane.
“but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Gospel Presentations in Banff

This week we have been working in low-income housing areas in preparation for our two V.B.S.'s next week, open air evangelism in Bannf and Calgary Canada Day Festival.   ~CA

Practical Devotions

On Thursday, we did sketchboard messages among the beautiful mountains of Banff. After my message, I was able to speak with a Catholic woman. While I was discussing the gospel with her, I was able to quote passages that we, the MP team, studied during our devotions in Ephesians. I thought it was really cool being able to see the real life application of these passages that we have been studying.

Ministry in Banff

Thursday, 6/29, our team traveled from Cochrane to Banff to do ministry and go sight seeing for a couple hours. Our leaders told us that there was going to be some mountains on the way to and in Banff. So naturally I expected a pretty mountain here and there, but nothing could have prepared me for the sights that were unfolding right in front of my eyes! There were massive mountains on either side of the road with snow caps and beautiful trees. Even while we were in the actual town of Banff there were mountains on all sides surrounding and smiling down on us. To your right, bam! Mountain. To your left, Bam! Mountain. It was truly an extraordinary sight. However, while looking at the wonders of these creations, I couldn't help but think of how it barely scrapes the surface of our amazing God and his glory. Wow, what heaven will be like!!!

Even in the midst of all this beauty, the Good News of the Gospel is still the most important message of our missions trip. We have had wonderful conversations with people from many different ethnicities. Christian and I decided to come up with a message that related to the mountains that are surrounding Banff. We painted some mountains and started by talking about how the mountains came into existence (i.e. God created them). Which led straight into the fall of man which proceeded to the Gospel. With all the breath taking mountains around, many people are still in the darkness of sin. I'm so thankful for the opportunity that God gave us to share the good news with the locals and tourists in Banff.
